A small coastal village that sits near Whitby, Staithes is the perfect place to go if you're in need for some r&r (we were).

We drove up from East Yorkshire, and stopped off in Malton on the way for lunch at The Talbot. Depending on where you travel from, you're likely going to enjoy beaut countryside and coastal towns.

We stayed in a 200 year old fisherman's cottage, nestled down a cobbled side street off the centre of Staithes village. It was a beautiful & cosy place; low ceilings with dark wooden beams, creaky floors & a front courtyard filled with wild plants.

There is no mistaking you're at the seaside even when you're hunkered down inside. Our ears were ringing when we came back home from the sound of seagulls & we are still finding sand everywhere, but we don't care.

We spent our days walking Tofu around the harbour, clambering on rocks & morning swimming in the sea.
